VIDEO: Ep 2, Bourbon & Bitches talks sex abuse double standards, Net Neutrality, Veteran's Day troop worship

Welcome to Episode 2 of Liberty.me's Bourbon and Bitches! In the episode Liberty.me's hosts Meg Gilliland and Tiffany Madison welcome guest host Lucy Steigerwald. This week, we chat about the sex-based societal double standard regarding sexual abuse, Net Neutrality, Veteran's Day military worship and of course, sex robots.

We are joined this week by Whitney Davis and Jaclyn Boudreau. Whitney Davis is the former president of Young Americans for Liberty at the University of Arkansas. She has earned her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and is currently pursuing her Master's in Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California. She's an anarcho-capitalist who is most passionate about free market principles and using technology, entrepreneurship, and charity to promote liberty.

One of Jaclyn's many passions includes researching sexuality. She has worked in the non-profit realm with organizations dedicated to understanding human sexuality studies. She is passionate about social change theory, sexual freedom and education, and ending the drug war. She now works for the always fabulous organization, Learn Liberty.

SEXUAL ABUSE: SEX-BASED DOUBLE STANDARDS?

We discuss the sexual abuse allegations leveled at HBO's Girls writer and actress, Lena Dunham. Dunham wrote in her memoir of emotionally and physically manipulating her younger sister in exchange for sexual activity and intimacy.

One excerpt says, "As she grew, I took to bribing her for her time and affection: one dollar in quarters if I could do her makeup like a "motorcycle chick." Three pieces of candy if I could kiss her on the lips for five seconds. Whatever she wanted to watch on TV if she would just "relax on me." Basically, anything a sexual predator might do to woo a small suburban girl I was trying."

Leftist feminists and liberal commentators rushed to Dunham's defense, passing the situation off as "playing doctor" and blaming "right wing media" for crafting the controversy. But what if Dunham would have been a male child? Would Dunham's admissions of masturbating in bed next to her adolescent sister be laughed off so easily? A male registered sex offender addresses how male and female children are viewed differently in regards to what constitutes sexual abuse.

NET NEUTRALITY

Whitney Davis breaks down net neutrality, what it means for the future of equal access, why the FCC is awful and unqualified to determine something so important, and the awkward situation this debate places libertarians. Whitney explains, "As for net neutrality, it seems very complicated and I could be misinterpreting some it (which should raise concerns in and of itself). I feel that ISPs are well within their property ownership of their infrastructure to adjust prices according to an increasingly scarce resource (bandwidth). Some content providers have already bypassed top tier ISPs and could expand to bypass local ISPs to encourage competition. Oh, and, sex robots for everyone! Vermin Supreme 2016!"

Lucy agrees, "It's probably a bad idea, but I can see how it's tempting where there is already regulation up to here."

VETERAN'S DAY: SALON.COM'S ARTICLE ON TROOP WORSHIP

The ladies each share their thoughts on Salon.com's recent article that rustled a lot of jimmies, "You don’t protect my freedom: Our childish insistence on calling soldiers heroes deadens real democracy."

David Masciotra states that, 'it's been 70 years since we fought a war about freedom. Forced troop worship and compulsory patriotism must end." We discuss this and more.

SEX ROBOTS

Returning to our default question, we discuss the future of relationships, prostitution and sex and family once sex robots are available for purchase and pleasure.
