Content Editing: Substance + Sex Appeal = Excellence


Rates vary from one book editor to another. Some freelance book editors will work from $10 to $25 per hour. I don't charge by the hour. I charge by the page. 

The average for proofreading is $3 per page and for copy editing $4 per page. I'm interested in content editing, so you will pay $7.50 per page


HOW TO PAY:

I accept checks, money orders, cashiers checks, but it's also 2017 so I prefer Paypal (fee is on me) and Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. 

I'm a content editor. While I check for spelling, capitalization, punctuation, verb tenses and other grammatical errors, etc., I'm passionate about stories that dance. I've edited 50+ works of fiction, including short stories and novels. I'm so serious about beautiful writing that I founded Fictionista Workshop, a non-profit for women online fiction writers, to help budding authors build confidence to become their future selves.

Stories must speak to a reader, and readers are intelligent. Factual errors, inconsistencies, and discrepancies in any way pull the reader from your universe. The characters must be real, the plot must be sound, and our dialogue has to be authentic. Before your manuscript touches a copy editor's desk, first you'll work with someone like me. Some will want you to kill your darlings and others will make tweaks and shifts, but if they work for you like I do, they'll collaborate, brainstorm, and dive deeply because they love stories. 

HOW IT WORKS:

Step 1) Email me at tiffany@tiffanymadison.com and introduce yourself, include your story's summary and the best time to chat.

Step 2) I will get back to you immediately.

Step 3) We connect, review your wants and needs and whether I can help, and if we are excited to work together, we get to work! This is a side project and passion, so I only take on one story at a time. Absolute focus is essential for a content editor and you'll have my full attention. I will edit one to three pages of your content to make sure we're a great fit (or as many as that I determine are needed in order to decide if we're a good fit).

Step 4) We determine timelines, story goals, and settle on a rate before any work begins. Transparency and communication are the key to our partnership.

Professionally written resumes range from about $80 to $349. Most full-service packages, which can include cover and thank-you letters tailored to prospective employers, can cost between $229 and $700. Most people can't pay for this while looking for work.

My audit services (I review, edit, and tell you what is missing) start at $50. If you want me to customize, we agree on a rate. I want to help and I'm flexible.
