let’s hammer out a few tinhgs. 1. The indoc was 10 weeks long when I went through, and that is the physical and mental preparedness people talk about. Within the first 2 weeks, 90% of the class is gone. 2. We go through the pipeline, which is over a year, and that was the schools many are referring to. Upon graduation, we get assigned to many different units. I was with the Army the majority of the time. And we didn’t consider Rangers as special operations. A large number of people, including Air Force STS members, go through Ranger school and receive a tab, which was very easy. A very small few of these Rangers get assigned to actual Ranger Units, which they wear a Scroll, and sometime go on special operation missions. All Air Force STS members are part of Special Operations. I spent my time with Army SF, so I learned very quickly where Rangers stack up to SF and other SOF, and its not high at all (and they hate to be called Green Berets) . 3. As for Marines, one of my Cadre was a former Recon guy, and he was one of three to cross-branch and try for PJ/CCT, and he was the only one who made it. You can read in his book about how the training was much more demanding for him in the AF for STS than anything he did in the Marines. 4. At any given point there is between 300 and 350 people in PJ/CCT, and there are literally thousands of Seals and Army SF. 5. Not trying to say that STS is better than any other units, because they all have different missions. But to lump Rangers and Marines in with AF STS is silly, not even close. 6.
